The Eccles Physiotherapy and Pilates Clinic is owned and run by Steve and Lily Eccles. We both have a rich professional history, graduating from the University of Ulster in the mid 80’s, and having both worked extensively as senior Physiotherapists for the NHS in England and later in leading regional hospitals in the USA. On returning from the States in 2000, Eccles Physiotherapy and Pilates clinic was established providing cutting edge treatment and advise for the gamut of conditions requiring Physiotherapy.

At that time we brought home a present....................PILATES.

We brought Pilates to The Newry and Mourne Area having been introduced and taught to use this philosophy of movement in 1994 whilst working in ‘The Spine, Sports and Orthopaedic Centre’ in San Francisco, California.

Several inspired and forward thinking individuals found us and attended our sessions over the years! Many of our ex-patients were introduced to our Pilates Posture classes and continued with it to help sustain a high level of functional ability. This approach to exercise has slowly caught on with more and more individuals training and offering these classes.

Undoubtedly however, being taught Pilates by an experienced Physiotherapist brings it to a new level. Problems with pain, weakness, stiffness and general poor posture can be addressed specifically for each client , so that a personal and safe prescription of appropriate exercise is advised. As the situation changes these exercises can be adapted and further tailored to the individuals needs .

At our Clinic, we are not fans of passive physiotherapy, each patient is treated and educated about their condition and how they can best help themselves to recover and maintain this recovery.

We teach private Pilates/Posture re-education as well as duo and group classes. Both children and adults with postural problems leading to pain respond well to Pilates incorporated into the Physio treatment.

We offer treatment for most Orthopaedic/Arthritis related problems, general Neurological conditions and have a particular interest in providing therapy for pain and dysfunctions related to the Spine.

Being licensed Health Professionals we can contact and liase with your Doctor and will be your advocate if we feel different treatment or further investigation by a medical professional is required.

Based on the Old Warrenpoint Road, Newry, we are practically on your doorstep. We are user friendly with appointment times and duration of each visit is always at our discretion as each patients needs demand.

We are also happy to visit patients in their own homes if needed and also in Nursing Homes.
